- Business Networking Breakfast
Tom Harvey-James trained as an archaeologist here in Cornwall before joining Mining Searches UK in 2017. His training enables him to critically evaluate and understand historical sources, demonstrating an ability to undertake independent study into various aspects of human existence and activity.
Working as part of the archive team, his role entails researching and producing mining risk reports for property and developments. Studying historic mapping and interpreting abandoned mine plans, he also travels the UK to visit archives and record offices that hold documents relating to historic mining activity.
Tom will be speaking about the what goes into a Mining Searches UK mining report, explaining what sources are studied and how the archive team collate all the data they have into the clear and concise mining risk reports that their clients receive. He will also touch on the technological advances and innovative solutions that Mining Searches UK are using to make their assessments clearer, more accurate and reliable. The introduction of drone technology is something that the team are very excited to role out, as it has already proven itself on site to be an invaluable tool when investigating unrecorded mining features.
